Job Responsibilities
As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at Delta Airlines, you will be responsible for:
- Performing all work activities in accordance with established regulations, guidelines, standards, safety protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety of self and others.
- Assessing aircraft or aircraft parts, including landing gear, hydraulic systems, tires, and engines for damage, defects, corrosion, or other wear to ensure airworthiness.
- Recommending replacement, repair, or adjustment of aircraft hardware based on inspection.
- Reporting issues, breakdowns, unusual wear, or damage to proper staff, as required.
- Installing, removing, or modifying aircraft designs, systems, or parts, following drawings, schematics, diagrams, engineering orders, and technical publications.
- Repairing worn, defective, or damaged parts or components (e.g., damaged gaskets, lines and couplings, cables, and pulleys), using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
- Reviewing completed work to verify that maintenance adheres to standards and procedures, and that aircraft are ready for operation.
- Interpreting logs or records (written or verbal) to understand the history and nature of the issue, to troubleshoot the issue, and to identify potential next steps (e.g., repair, defer, replace).
- Researching, reading, and interpreting technical manuals and guides to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities.
- Reviewing maintenance records to determine whether service and maintenance checks, repairs, and upgrades were performed at recommended intervals.
- Maintaining repair logs, recording all preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance activities.
- Serving as a technical expert or mentor by providing advice and corrective recommendations to others.
- Using computers, computer systems, and other technologies to enter, report, access, retrieve, or communicate information.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- An FAA Airframe and Power Plant Permit.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability to pass a background check, including a government-required fingerprint-based criminal history records check.
- The ability to pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screen and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
- The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Being at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications
To give you a competitive edge, you should have:
- One year of relevant employment experience.
- Prior military experience.
- Previous work experience in the airline industry.
- Status as a current Delta employee.
- One year of mechanical experience (beyond educational experience).
- One year of aircraft maintenance experience (beyond educational experience).
- One year of heavy stream support experience (beyond educational experience).
- Prior electronics/avionics experience or FCC permit.
