Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with special education teachers to plan and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.
- Provide instructional support to students, including direct instruction, small group work, and one-on-one support.
- Assist with the development and implementation of behavioral management programs to support students with challenging behaviors.
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and provide feedback to teachers and other support staff.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including IEPs, progress reports, and other documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of lessons, materials, and equipment for special education classes.
- Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, and other school settings to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.
Essential Qualifications:
- Completion of at least two years of post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours or 48 semester units.
- Obtaining an associate's or higher degree.
- Meeting a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Previous training, education, or experience in instructional techniques and behavior management and modification methods.
- Previous training in basic clerical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to type.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience.
- Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to work with or lead students in group or individual instructional activities.
- Knowledge of grammar, math, language arts, social sciences, health, penmanship, and reading principles.
- Ability to adapt standard educational curriculum to the specialized needs of students with learning disabilities.
- Ability to present instructional material in a clear, sequenced manner while sensitive to the needs of students.
- Ability to respond to specialized health care requirements.
- Ability to observe, interpret, and record data involving the academic record and behavior of students.
- Ability to type, prepare classroom materials or artwork, operate current office technology and equipment, or perform other clerical duties.
- Ability to use or learn to use computers and appropriate computer software.
- Ability to work independently and work harmoniously with other teachers and assistants.
- Dependability, adaptability, patience, consistency, high level of communication skills, with resourcefulness.
- Ability to deal with stress of working closely with disabled students.
- Ability to assess situations and act swiftly and appropriately and with sound judgment for the safety and well-being of students and teacher.

Compensation and Benefits:
The expected salary range for this position is $20.61 - $25.86 per hour. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
