A Little About Our Team

Our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team sits under the purview of the CTO as a critical part of the Yahoo Platforms Engineering (YPE) group. YPE empowers all of the Yahoo verticals to create and deliver the best products to our customers around the world with the highest standards. As part of our Foundation Engineering organization, we build modern, secure, and efficient software platforms to manage Yahoo's brands at scale. For SRE, ensuring the availability and reliability of our infrastructure is at the heart of what we do.

Join Our Team

We're looking to expand our SRE group with junior engineers who are eager to develop their careers in an organization undergoing one of the biggest technological transformations of all time. We're seeking individuals who value collaboration, have strong communication skills, and are passionate about creating high-quality solutions to help our products.

Key Responsibilities

• Screen, identify, and escalate issues of varying complexity.
• Aid in the development, setup, fixes, and upgrades of system infrastructure.
• Develop innovative and practical solutions to resolve non-routine issues.
• Develop tools to automate deployment, management, and monitoring.
• Apply working knowledge of system strategies, plans, and investigation methods.

A Great Deal About You

We're looking for individuals with the following qualifications:

• BS in Software Engineering or a related technical field; or equivalent industry experience. New graduates are welcome!
• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with container-based solutions like Docker.
• Experience with cloud best practices and services.
• Knowledge of one programming language, such as Python or JavaScript.
• Ability to communicate with non-technical audiences and engineers whose area of expertise or experience lies outside SRE and Foundation.

Favored Capabilities

We're looking for individuals with the following preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of one system language, such as C, C++, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with TCP/IP, HTTP, application security, testing, and storage.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container-based orchestration.
