About Our District and the Role

As a Physical Education Teacher, you'll play a vital role in developing students' physical skills, strength, agility, and coordination, as well as teaching them the importance of exercise for physical and mental well-being. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and administer Physical Education classes that align with school district goals and objectives, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Teach knowledge of, and develop skills and abilities in, physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports, adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Foster students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills, providing a safe and optimal learning environment and constructive feedback on student progress.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student growth and progress in physical education activities, modifying instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including those with special needs.
- Stay up-to-date with current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, and participating in research and professional growth opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student activities, achievement, and attendance, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Assist in coordinating extra-curricular activities, including student performances, assemblies, and athletic events, promoting school spirit and community engagement.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education, ensuring effective communication with students, parents, and guardians.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior, ensuring a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and promoting a positive school culture.
- Collaborate with other professional staff members, especially within physical education and grade level, participating in faculty meetings and committees to drive school-wide initiatives.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Illinois State Licensure with Physical Education endorsement K-12, demonstrating your expertise in physical education and commitment to teaching.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment, providing a solid foundation in educational principles and practices.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation, ensuring your ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred, showcasing your ability to engage students, manage classrooms, and drive academic achievement.
- Health endorsement preferred, highlighting your knowledge of health education and ability to promote healthy lifestyles among students.
