Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and standards
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students to ensure a smooth educational experience
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your teaching skills
• Take advantage of free online training opportunities to enhance your teaching practices and stay up-to-date on best practices in education

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Special education experience or training
• Subject-specific expertise in areas like Math, Science, English, or Special Education
