Our unique enrichment and educational programs in Creative Sciences and Digital Arts are designed to foster self-empowerment, cognitive reasoning, and divergent thinking in children and young adults. We're seeking passionate and talented individuals to join our team as Lead and Assistant Instructors for our Tech/STEM summer and after-school programs.
About Our Programs
Our programs are designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun, with a focus on hands-on learning. We offer a range of courses that cater to different interests and skill levels, including Minecraft, video game creation, movie making, animation, robotics, 3D modeling, and more. Our programs are available in multiple locations across over 30 states, providing a unique opportunity to work with diverse groups of students.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assist in teaching Tech/STEM classes to students aged 6-14
- Create a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages creativity and innovation
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with our program goals and objectives
- Manage classroom dynamics and ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere
- Collaborate with other instructors to share best practices and improve program delivery
- Participate in online training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
- Transfer equipment as needed for various classes (shoebox sized)
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Reliable transportation to sites throughout the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Queens (for in-person programs)
- Experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred but not required)
- Strong technology skills, such as 3D modeling, coding, game creation, or design, animation, robotics, modifying games, video editing, digital arts, competitive gaming, or significant knowledge of Minecraft or Roblox
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Availability to start online training immediately and work a minimum of 12 weeks during the school year (Monday through Friday, 2:30 - 5:00 PM, 2 to 5 days per week)
Lead Instructor Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- College graduates with a degree in education, digital arts, computer science, information technology, or related fields (or significant relevant work experience)
- Ability to lead a class of up to 13 kids solo and 30 kids with an assistant in a technology setting
- Strong preference for those with DOE clearance or who currently work in DOE schools (but not required)
- Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour depending on experience, location, and availability
Assistant Instructor Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- College age student studying education, computer science, video game development, digital arts, film, information technology, or similar fields
- Strong tech or digital arts and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with kids in a formal or informal setting (a plus, but not required)
- Rate: Dependent on experience, location, and availability
