Position Overview

As a Patient Support Representative, you will be responsible for handling inbound calls from patients and their family members, providing information and responding to inquiries with patience, empathy, and efficiency. You will also be responsible for accurate and detailed database entry, ensuring that patient information is up-to-date and easily accessible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle inbound patient calls, providing effective information and solutions about products or services.
  • Identify and analyze patients' concerns, providing recommendations or solutions.
  • Respond to inquiries in a thorough, timely, and courteous manner.
  • Process telephone orders, preparing patient paperwork and verifying insurance and/or other methods of payment.
  • Relay insurance coverage and patient responsibility to referral sources, sales team, and patients.
  • Discuss patient responsibility and documentation required for billing of services.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and data entry in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate the delivery and set-up of equipment, supplies, and services with appropriate departments.
  • Ensure deliveries and set-ups can be arranged in a timely manner.
  • Accurately and clearly document all activity in patient records, maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and other applicable rules and regulations.
  • Resolve patient concerns by identifying problems and working with supervisors to coordinate corrective action.
  • Support the Aveanna mission and culture by demonstrating our core values.
  • Adhere to the Aveanna Compliance Program, including following all regulatory, Aveanna, and accrediting agency policy requirements.
  • Maintain the skills and qualifications necessary to provide or support quality care, including attendance at company-wide educational programs.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of experience in a related administrative or customer service role, preferably in healthcare or a medical office.
  • 6 months of experience working with healthcare insurance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong basic math and accounting skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in medical office management or a related field.
  • Experience with insurance authorization and/or precertification.
  • Knowledge of home health, DME, and enteral nutrition products.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
