We are seeking a strategic, people-first design leader to guide and elevate the product design function within a fast-growing SaaS environment. In this role, you will lead a team of senior designers across a broad product area, driving usability, design quality, and impactful user experiences. You will partner closely with product management and engineering leadership to embed design into all stages of the product lifecycle, from discovery to delivery and iteration. Your influence will extend beyond your team, coaching peers, shaping design standards, and ensuring outcomes are user-centered and measurable. This position offers significant scope to define design strategy, mentor high-performing teams, and contribute to the overall success of the product organization.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of senior designers, fostering craft, collaboration, cross-functional influence, and career growth.
  • Own design quality and usability across your product area, ensuring solutions are cohesive, intuitive, and meet real customer needs.
  • Partner with product management and engineering to coach collaboration, discovery practices, and prioritize initiatives for impact.
  • Drive clarity and focus across customer problem areas, helping teams navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions.
  • Shape design systems, processes, and rituals to ensure consistency and operational excellence across the design organization.
  • Embed user insights and research data into design decisions, proactively identifying usability gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Represent design in cross-functional leadership forums, contributing to roadmap planning, delivery quality, and organizational strategy.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience, with 3–5 years in people management.
  • Proven track record leading design teams through growth, change, and product discovery.
  • Deep expertise in user-centered design principles, usability heuristics, and evidence-driven decision-making.
  • Experience working in empowered product teams with shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines.
  • Passion for coaching, cross-functional collaboration, and advocating for users.
  • Ability to operate autonomously, provide strategic leadership, and drive clarity through ambiguity.
  • Excellent prioritization, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with SaaS or enterprise software, design tools such as Figma, analytics platforms, and usability testing methods is a plus.
  • Experience designing and scaling design operations, systems, or team rituals is highly desirable.
