California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full-Time Lecturer in Foodservice and Nutrition Systems Management. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic team in the Food Science and Nutrition Department and contribute to the education and development of our students. As a lecturer, you will have the freedom and flexibility to teach a variety of courses, including Management of Foodservice and Nutrition Systems and Culinology, with an emphasis on quantity food planning and preparation.

About Our Department and University

The Food Science and Nutrition Department at Cal Poly is a vibrant and innovative community with 12 full-time faculty members, numerous part-time faculty, support staff, and approximately 600 students. Our department offers two majors: Nutrition and Food Science, as well as a range of graduate programs, including a MS in Nutrition, a MS in Food Science, and a Dietetic Internship program. We have strong connections with industry partners and commodity boards, providing opportunities for research collaborations and experiential learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Foodservice and Nutrition Systems Management, including Management of Foodservice and Nutrition Systems and Culinology
  • Develop and deliver course materials, assignments, and assessments
  • Engage with students, provide guidance and support, and foster a positive learning environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to develop curriculum and research programs
  • Contribute to departmental and university service, including committee work and outreach activities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Earned Master's degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Foodservice, or a closely related field
  • Evidence of professional experience in a related field of expertise
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and foster a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RD/RDN credential
  • PhD in Nutrition, Food Science, Foodservice, or a closely related field
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Experience with student-centered learning and teaching
  • Relevant work experience in industry or government agencies
