About the Role: Risk Data Analyst II

We're seeking a highly motivated and organized Risk Data Analyst II to join our team in managing risk and developing real-time detection strategies to minimize losses. As a key member of our risk management team, you'll analyze data to identify trends, develop risk analytics workflows, and partner with Product and Risk teams to reduce loss exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Analysis and Recommendations: Identify potential points of opportunity in Branch's risk management program through analysis of fraud events, customer behavior, operational pain points, and loss trends. Translate analysis into recommendations for business logic to minimize losses and improve customer experience.
  • Risk Analytics Workflow: Create risk analytics workflows, including defining success and performance metrics, and monitor progress through actionable dashboards and reports.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Partner closely with Product and Risk teams to identify highest impact points in the funnel to reduce loss exposure and develop scalable frameworks to manage risk scores, fraud detection alerts, and false positive monitoring.
  • Risk Controls and Thresholds: Provide recommendations on risk controls and thresholds through fact-based analysis.
  • Fraud Detection and Prevention: Develop and implement real-time rules and detection strategies to minimize losses and prevent fraud.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Data Analyst Experience: 2-5 years of data analyst experience with a focus on fraud or risk management.
  • Fraud Scores and Risk Rules: Experience developing fraud scores and risk rules through statistical modeling.
  • Fraud Trends and Analysis: Deep experience investigating, analyzing, and defending against emerging fraud trends, including ATO and first-party fraud.
  • Card Authorization Rules: Experience identifying and managing card authorization rules.
  • Financial Loss and Mitigation: Understanding and experience with financial loss causes, measures, and mitigation strategies.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytic skills utilizing SQL, Python, R, etc.
  • Financial Services Experience: Experience with digital banking, payments networks, or financial services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fintech Industry Experience: Experience in the fintech industry or with start-ups.
  • Mastercard and Mastercard Connect: Experience with Mastercard and Mastercard Connect.
  • Project Management Tools: Experience managing projects through tools like Jira.
