About the Role: Customer Care Nurse

As a Customer Care Nurse, you'll play a pivotal role in the claim intake process for injured claimants, working in a fast-paced, incoming call environment. Our team of medical professionals is spread across the United States, working remotely to facilitate Short-Term (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) case files. You'll be handling 35-40 calls per day, using your clinical expertise to assess, document, and review the medical acuity of a claimant's condition during these 15-minute intake calls. Your empathy, compassion, and keen clinical skillset will be essential in guiding claimants through the intake process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide claimants with a clear explanation of the intake and subsequent claims process expectations, ensuring they're well-informed and supported throughout.
  • Effectively assess, evaluate, and document a claimant's medical information to initiate the claim process, while simultaneously reviewing functional limitations or work accommodations.
  • Gather medically diagnosed restrictions and/or limitations for Return To Work expectations, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the claimant's needs.
  • Determine the medical complexity and appropriate assignment duration and/or a medical milestone for the assigned claim, utilizing your clinical expertise.
  • Accurately enter employee/employer/physician intake information into our claim technology platform, enabling Claims Ability Analysts to facilitate informed claim decisions.
  • Communicate complex medical information to claimants in a clear, simple, and concise manner, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Demonstrate sound medical knowledge and clinical assessment skills in a time-sensitive claim intake environment, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • An active LPN/LVN license; RN licenses will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 12 months of practicing clinical experience, with broad spectrum knowledge about anatomy and physiology.
  • Clinical Case Management experience is preferred, although not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively interact with claimants and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), as well as excellent keyboard/automation skills.
  • Location: We're looking for candidates based in the West or Central time zones to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.

Additional Information

To ensure a smooth transition into this role, please note:

  • Start date: Monday, June 3rd, 2024.
  • Training hours: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday for the first 8 weeks of employment.
  • Post-training hours: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
  • Internet Connectivity Requirement: For 100% remote positions, we require high-speed broadband cable internet service with minimum upload/download speeds of 10Mbps/100Mbps, and a hardwired connection to the Hartford-issued router and/or computer.
