Job Summary

As a Web Programmer IV at CNSS, you will work on complex web development projects, applying your expertise in programming techniques and computer internet systems to create efficient and effective web solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish project timelines. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, testing, and maintaining web programs, as well as providing guidance and support to junior staff members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop, test, edit, maintain, and document web programs, ensuring high-quality and reliable solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of programming techniques and computer internet systems to create scalable and secure web applications.
  • Formulate a plan outlining the steps required to develop programs, using structured analysis and design methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish project timelines.
  • Design and implement efficient algorithms and data structures to optimize program performance.
  • Conduct thorough testing of web programs to identify and address any issues or bugs, ensuring functionality and reliability.
  • Maintain and update web programs as needed, incorporating enhancements and modifications based on user feedback or changing requirements.
  • Document web program development processes, including specifications, coding standards, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members, mentoring them in programming techniques and best practices.
  • Work under general supervision, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, while demonstrating a high degree of creativity and latitude in problem-solving.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in web programming, preferably in a federal agency setting.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in programming languages and technologies commonly used in web development, such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong understanding of web development frameworks and libraries, such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Experience with database systems and SQL, including database design and optimization.
  • Knowledge of web security best practices and techniques for securing web applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of web programming.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience leading or directing the work of others is desirable.
  • Experience working in a federal agency setting is preferred.
