We're now seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instructional Designer to join our team on a part-time, remote basis for a critical project involving the modernization and consolidation of our web-based courses and migration to WorkDay Learning.
About the Project
This 1-year assignment is a unique opportunity for an independent instructional designer contractor to lead a significant effort in identifying, consulting, modernizing, and consolidating a portfolio of web-based courses. The project involves collaboration with subject matter experts, content owners, and division leaders to streamline, combine, and enhance existing curriculum, as well as converting Lectora courses to Articulate 360 and ensuring a seamless migration to WorkDay Learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with subject matter experts and content owners to identify learning objectives and recommend innovative learning approaches and solutions.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to gather content information and determine effective learning solutions.
- Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content tailored to adult learners.
- Convert existing Lectora courses to Articulate 360, ensuring high-quality and interactive e-learning experiences.
- Design e-learning courses that apply adult learning principles, engage the audience, and achieve learning objectives.
- Develop assessment modes, such as tests and quizzes, to measure course effectiveness.
- Visualize instructional graphics, user interface, and the finished product to ensure a modern and professional look and feel.
- Stay updated on trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design, applying this knowledge to the project.
- Manage the project by providing requirements, schedules, updates on milestones, and feedback to ensure timely delivery.
- Make necessary edits and enhancements to ensure content is current, professional, and maintains a modern aesthetic.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and delivering web-based training.
- Strong knowledge of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) models, including ADDIE, SAM, and Agile, as well as Adult Learning principles and teaching methods.
- Excellent writing, editing, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct front-end needs analysis and back-end learning evaluation.
- Highly skilled in consulting, project management, storyboarding, and script writing.
- Proficiency in leading content development tools and methodologies, including WorkDay Learning, Articulate 360, Articulate Studio suite, and Lectora, as well as Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and advanced PowerPoint skills.
- Examples of materials designed and developed, demonstrating your expertise.
- Your own electronic equipment (e.g., computer, software such as Articulate and Photoshop).
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- 7+ years of experience in content development, LMS, and instructional design.
