The Summer 2025 Legal Internship Program is designed to provide a comprehensive and immersive experience in publishing law. Over ten weeks, you will work closely with the PRH Legal team to:

  • Conduct legal research on various topics, including defamation, copyright, and trademark law
  • Review books for potential legal concerns and provide feedback
  • Draft contracts and other legal documents
  • Assist in tackling the challenges associated with being a global publisher
  • Participate in weekly virtual programming to learn about different departments within the company

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

As a Legal Intern at Penguin Random House, you will be expected to:

  • Work four days a week (Monday through Thursday) for ten weeks, starting from June 9, 2025, to August 18, 2025
  • Put in 28 hours a week, with flexibility to manage your schedule remotely
  • Engage with the PRH Legal team and contribute to the team's efforts
  • Develop your skills in legal research, writing, and analysis
  • Participate in virtual programming and networking opportunities

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this prestigious internship, you should:

  • Be a first-year law student with a strong academic record
  • Have a passion for publishing law and a keen interest in the book industry
  • Possess excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Previous experience in a law firm, publishing company, or related industry
  • Knowledge of publishing law, including copyright, defamation, and trademark law
