About the Role

As a Custom Circuits Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and developing custom circuits to improve chip power efficiency, working closely with cross-functional teams to define specifications and requirements. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering custom circuits to improve chip power efficiency and drive innovation
  • Collaborating with power teams, PD, and designers to define specifications and requirements
  • Performing design, analysis, modeling/simulation, circuit-level specifications, schematic capture, spice simulation/layout check across PVT, statistical design, functional verification, and silicon bring-up
  • Working closely with the layout team to complete the design and govern design quality
  • Creating and driving circuit methodologies to achieve the highest design quality metrics

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines)
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience in custom circuit design
  • Experience in designing low-voltage, low-power custom circuits
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: AI accelerators, SRAM circuits, non-volatile memories, weak/moderate inversion circuits, ultra-low power amplifiers, DC/DC converters, advanced on-chip sensors, high-speed timing, time-to-digital converters (TDCs)
  • Strong understanding of deep submicron device physics, leakage mechanisms, technology interactions with device behavior
  • Excellent knowledge of device matching, device noise sources (1/f, thermal), external noise sources (supply, jitter), and their impact on high-precision circuits
  • Ability to conduct experiments during silicon debug, manufacturing, and analyzing data; and using scripting to support efficient processing of ATE data
  • Familiarity with hierarchical schematic check and behavioral models for hierarchical schematic blocks
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python/Perl or others) and CAD automation tools
  • Knowledge of industry-standard circuit and design tools

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications will be considered a plus:

  • Experience working with advanced technology nodes
  • Knowledge of Apple's product lines and technologies
  • Experience with collaborative design and development methodologies
