Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce State and City ordinances related to animal care, treatment, licensing, and impounding
- Respond to calls and investigate reports of animal cruelty, neglect, and abuse
- Pick up sick, injured, stray, vicious, or unwanted animals
- Conduct humane investigations and gather evidence
- Issue citations and make arrests as necessary
- Handle money accurately and collect animal licensing and other fees
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for use as legal evidence
- Work independently, often at night and on graveyard shifts
Requirements and Qualifications:
To be successful as an Animal Control Officer, you will need:
- Education: One year of full-time paid experience performing animal care, maintenance, or control of domestic or wild animals; or successful completion of 12 semester units or 18 quarter units from an accredited college or university in Animal Science, Animal Management, Administration of Justice, or related coursework
- Experience: A combination of experience and education in relevant areas may be accepted
- Skills and Competencies:

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
