About the Role
Our Cloud Network Engineering Team is the backbone of Netflix's cloud infrastructure, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the network architectures that enable our services to reach millions of users worldwide. Key Responsibilities
- Building and Operating Services, APIs, and Tooling: You'll be tasked with designing and implementing services, APIs, and tooling related to cloud networking, enhancing our network's capabilities and user experience.
- Driving Cross-Functional Projects: Your expertise will be crucial in driving projects that enable new business areas for Netflix, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in cloud networking.
- Influencing Codebase Development: Working closely with our software engineers, you'll leverage your cloud network engineering expertise to influence the development of our codebase, ensuring it remains scalable, efficient, and reliable.
- Engaging with End Users: Direct engagement with end engineering users will be a key part of your role, understanding their needs, and improving their overall experience with Netflix's infrastructure.
- Balancing Action and Decision Making: You'll need to balance a bias towards action with the ability to make well-informed decisions, understanding and solving business needs at scale with high-quality solutions.
Must-Have Skills and Qualifications
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- Professional Experience: At least 2+ years of professional experience in Cloud Network Engineering on a major cloud provider platform at scale, preferably AWS.
- Deep Networking Knowledge: A deep understanding of TCP/IP, Routing, IPv6, and IPv4, forming the foundation of your ability to architect and manage complex network systems.
- Scripting and Programming Skills: Proficiency in scripting and a solid understanding of programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java, enabling you to develop tooling and services.
- Problem-Solving Ability: A passion for technology, pragmatic thinking, and the ability to dive into ambiguous areas and break down complex problems into manageable solutions.
- On-Call Experience: Experience supporting core infrastructure services in an on-call rotation, demonstrating your ability to handle the pressures of maintaining critical systems.

What We Offer
Our compensation structure is straightforward, consisting solely of an annual salary. You have the flexibility to choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. The compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000, determined based on market indicators, your job family, background, skills, and experience.
