About Us

With a strong reputation for excellence, we're now seeking a Director of Educator Engagement to lead our educational programming and community-building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Programs
- Lead the design, development, and growth of the Teach Maine Center, focusing on grant management, strategic planning, and fundraising.
- Guide program initiatives aimed at strengthening and diversifying Maine's educator workforce.
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with educators to ensure the Teach Maine Center is a "By Teachers, For Teachers" initiative, empowering teachers to lead, shape, and sustain its programs and resources.
- Oversee all aspects of the Maine Teacher of the Year (TOY) Program, ensuring seamless daily administration and fostering the program's growth through increased awareness and participation.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to facilitate a fair, transparent, and equitable nomination, selection, and recognition process at both the county and state levels.
- Support the Program Manager in their role as the State Coordinator of the National Teacher of the Year program and as the liaison with the Council of Chief State Schools Officers (CCSSO).
- Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, including educators, policymakers, and partners, to enhance program impact.
- Work collaboratively with Educate Maine staff to plan and execute events, such as the annual Educate Maine Symposium, State and County Teacher of the Year Induction Dinner and Announcement, and the Teacher of the Year Gala.
Initiative Leadership
- Oversee the implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening Maine's educator pipeline, while promoting diversity and equity within the profession.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and entire team to contribute to the organization's overall mission.
- Manage the workload and goals of direct reports to execute program goals and strategic priorities.
- Provide regular feedback and coaching, including development discussions.
Fundraising
- Manage grants and fulfill requirements of funded programming, including financial and quarterly narrative/milestone reporting.
- Partner with a variety of supporters to provide long-term sustainability for the Maine Teacher of the Year and the Teach Maine Center programs.
- Partner with the Development Director to research, apply for, and secure program funding through short-term and multi-year grants.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- Proven experience in program management, event coordination, and strategic leadership.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a diverse array of stakeholders.
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in education or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team spirit.
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and fundraising.
- Financial acumen, including experience managing budgets.
- A deep commitment to education and to supporting the development of educators across Maine.
- A passion for advancing educational equity and inclusion.
- The ability to pass a Maine CHRC certification.
