The Role: Director of Product Design, UX - Inspired Shopping

As the Director of UX for the Inspired Shopping team, you'll be responsible for leading a group of about 15 designers and design managers who are driving the creation of Target's ecommerce experiences, including personalization, content management, deals, and top-of-funnel experiences like our Home Page. You'll be the design leader who sets the direction for our UX team and partners with stakeholders across the organization to establish a clear vision for our digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities: Driving Success through UX Excellence

  • Lead and manage a team of UX designers and design managers to deliver high-quality design solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Tech, and Business leaders, to establish design direction and ensure alignment with company priorities.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Target's business goals, priorities, and challenges, and use this knowledge to inform design decisions.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation within the UX team, and ensure that team members have the resources and support they need to thrive.
  • Champion the strength of the Target brand and ensure that design solutions align with our brand values and principles.
  • Develop and maintain a high bar for design craft, and ensure that the team is delivering elevated UI and innovative solutions that drive business results.
  • Use data to inform design decisions and articulate the rationale behind design recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including other Directors, Sr. Directors, and VPs.
  • Coach, mentor, and guide team members to help them grow and develop new skills, and increase trust, transparency, and engagement within the team.

Essential Qualifications: The Skills and Experience We Need

  • 12+ years of experience in UX/digital product design, with a strong understanding of the craft of design.
  • Foundational understanding of digital retail businesses and the challenges and opportunities they present.
  • 5+ years of experience in people leadership, with demonstrated experience in hiring, leading, and coaching high-performing teams.
  • Experience working in large, matrixed, global, or multi-national organizations, with a proven track record of success in these environments.
  • Strong data-driven visual, verbal, and written storytelling skills, with the ability to bring partners along and articulate design recommendations with authority and openness.
  • Experience successfully managing multiple stakeholders through all phases of the design process.

Preferred Qualifications: The Skills and Experience That Will Set You Apart

  • Experience managing teams of 15 or more, with a proven track record of success in leading large teams.
  • Experience working in a remote or hybrid work environment, with the ability to lead and manage teams in these settings.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility principles and practices, and a commitment to ensuring that design solutions are accessible to all users.

Compensation and Benefits: A Comprehensive Package

We're offering a competitive salary range of $141,600.00 - $254,900.00 USD for this role, based on factors such as education, work experience, certifications, and labor markets. In addition to your salary, we'll provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
