About the Role

As a full-time Early Exceptional Children Preschool Teacher, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing an engaging instructional program tailored to the unique needs of our students. Your expertise will be crucial in helping these young learners achieve their maximum potential and lay the foundation for future success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and deliver an instructional program that caters to the diverse needs of preschool students with special education classifications, including autism spectrum disorder.
  • Maintain a professional, confidential, and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages learning and growth.
  • Keep accurate records as per district directives and State/Federal regulations, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to differentiate instruction and meet the individual learning needs of assigned students.
  • Implement individualized communication systems and Behavior Support Strategies based on evidence-established practices for preschool students with autism and emotional regulation challenges.
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that incorporate Early Learning Foundations, ensuring a strong educational foundation.
  • Serve as a vital member of the IEP team, crafting developmentally appropriate goals for preschool students based on data and progress monitoring.
  • Integrate technology into instruction to enhance learning experiences and outcomes.
  • Provide differentiated instruction based on each student's individual level of functioning and preferred learning modalities, aligning with their IEP and research-based curriculum interventions.
  • Establish a classroom management system that teaches clear routines, procedures, and expectations, utilizing visual schedules to support student understanding.
  • Administer informal and formal assessments as required, collecting and interpreting data to inform instruction and report progress to IEP team members, including parents and the school district.
  • Participate in professional development trainings, parent informational meetings, and family events to foster a collaborative community.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be considered for this rewarding role, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Delaware Certification in Early Childhood Education.
  • Delaware Teaching Certificate in Exceptional Children.
  • Early Childhood Birth – 2 Autism & Severe Disabilities specialization is preferred.
  • One or more of the following certificates: Delaware Advanced License, Delaware Continuing License, or Delaware Initial License.
  • One or more of the following endorsements: DEASD Teacher of Students with Autism, DEECSE Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, or DEEXSE Exceptional Children Special Education Teacher.
