Job Summary
We are seeking a part-time online Visiting Professor to teach NR-702: DNP Project & Practicum I, a critical course in our DNP program. This course focuses on broad issues for DNP-prepared nurses practicing across healthcare systems to advance nursing practice. As a Visiting Professor, you will develop and provide students with an approved syllabus, organize and prepare course materials, and use technological options to deliver high-quality online education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
- Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
- Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
- Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
- Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
- Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provides timely feedback to students.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- MSN and DNP or PHD in Nursing degree is required.
- Must have an active nursing license (Compact/Multi-State RN License preferred).
- 2+ years in an academic DNP project faculty advisor required.
- Online teaching experience required.
- Illinois RN License will be required to teach all courses.
- Must have required subject matter expertise and outstanding written communication skills and familiar with APA.
- Must have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
- Solid written skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively in an online environment a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching DNP-level courses.
- Familiarity with online education platforms and technologies.
- Strong background in nursing practice and education.
