Assistant Managing Editor, Ten Speed & Clarkson Potter (Remote)
About the position
Responsibilities
• Assist with day-to-day upkeep of the publishing database (SAP) for print books and ebooks.
• Schedule seasonal meetings by imprint and create/distribute meeting materials.
• Create and distribute weekly company-wide memos of substantive changes.
• Oversee communication around all book titles and subtitles, copyediting as necessary.
• Input and update book metadata that display on internal websites as well as online retailers.
• Work on reprints for both print books and ebooks, collaborating with the Production Editorial team, Design team, and corporate reprint Production team.
• Provide general support to the Managing Editorial department as we expand our imprints to include children's publishing and grow our graphic novel and 1-color publishing programs.
Requirements
• At least 3 years of experience in Managing Editorial or Production Editorial, ideally within trade publishing.
• Superb attention to detail.
• Solid proofreading skills.
• Excellent communication skills, including an ability to interact with employees across various departments.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A genuine interest in managing editorial/project management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
