Key Responsibilities
- Establishing a Supportive Learning Environment: Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes academic achievement and personal growth.
- Communicating with Students and Teachers: Build effective relationships with students, teachers, and parents to ensure student success and address individual needs.
- Participating in Parent/Teacher Conferences: Engage with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Transitional Training and Support: Organize and facilitate online OSHA training, set up new classes, and assist students with transitional skills development.
- Academic Achievement and Tutoring: Administer pre-tests, grade assessments, and provide one-on-one tutoring to support students in various subjects.
- Classroom Management and Substitute Teaching: Maintain a well-managed classroom environment, even in the absence of the teacher, and assist students with their curriculum pace.
- Library and Administrative Support: Catalogue books, assist with library organization, and cover school office duties as needed.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High School Diploma: A high school diploma is required, with some college hours preferred.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
- Educational Technology and Teaching Methods: Knowledge of educational technology and teaching methods to support student learning.
- Classroom Management and Special Education Support: Experience with effective classroom management and familiarity with special education support.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License: A valid Oklahoma driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
- Background Check and Drug Screening: Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly valued:
- Experience in Education or Youth Development: Previous experience working in education or youth development settings.
- Knowledge of Juvenile Justice System: Familiarity with the juvenile justice system and the needs of at-risk youth.
