Golds Gym DC Metro Area is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group X Instructor to join our team of fitness professionals. As a Group X Instructor, you will play a vital role in leading and motivating our members to achieve their fitness goals in a fun and supportive group environment. Key Responsibilities

As a Group X Instructor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and delivering group fitness classes based on industry standards and approved formats, ensuring that classes begin and end promptly and adhere to the scheduled format, standards, and times.
  • Instructing participants on effective workout methods, explaining proper techniques, demonstrating exercises, identifying different muscle groups, and teaching appropriate methods and modifications.
  • Providing verbal instructions that are clear and concise, ensuring that the volume, tempo of music, and overall atmosphere are motivational and conducive to hearing, teaching, learning, and having fun.
  • Coaching and motivating class participants to achieve their fitness goals, continually monitoring for signs of injury, illness, or overexertion, and providing modifications and variations of activities to accommodate all fitness levels.
  • Interacting with participants, answering questions, introducing/orienting new participants, generating and maintaining a positive exercise experience, and soliciting feedback to maintain long-term participation and member retention.
  • Maintaining and demonstrating a positive and professional attitude towards responsibilities, fellow associates, members, and guests, and representing and promoting Gold's Gym group exercise in a professional manner.
  • Ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly, microphones are in working order, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the GGX room.
  • Promptly notifying management of any equipment or facility repair needs and preparing incident and/or witness reports as necessary in the event of accidents.
  • Accurately and consistently recording hours worked and class attendance information, submitting to the Fitness Manager in a timely manner, and attending all required staff meetings and training sessions.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful as a Group X Instructor at Gold's Gym, you will need:

  • Current CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training (hands-on certification, online certifications not accepted).
  • Minimum of six months teaching experience in a group exercise environment, along with demonstrated knowledge of group exercise principles and safe exercise techniques.
  • Nationally recognized Group fitness certification by ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or equivalent.
  • Verifiable proof of specialized skill/training, such as Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, Body Attack, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies, incorporation of choreography, and safe transitional movement patterns, music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm.
  • High degree of energy and physical fitness to complete the workout and demonstrate exercises.
  • Demonstrated engaging and motivational leadership, adaptability, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to create and/or follow appropriate choreography combinations to be taught within the parameters of the class format.
  • High degree of professionalism, ability to motivate others, and operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements

While not essential, the following qualifications and requirements are preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a fitness environment, such as a gym or studio.
  • Knowledge of basic physiology, human anatomy, kinesiology, body mechanics, and training principles.
  • Experience with a variety of group fitness formats and styles.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with members of all ages and fitness levels.
