The Art of Education University (AOEU) is seeking a Library and Research Advisor to join our rapidly growing university. This individual will serve as a versatile and imaginative leader with a strong service orientation as well as a keen awareness of new and emerging practices in distance learning. The ideal candidate will embrace the idea of coaching adult learners to achieve their goals and approach library services and research through an innovative, contemporary lens.
As a member of the Student Academic Success team, the Library and Research Advisor will work in both self-directed and collaborative ways to develop and contribute to instructional resources, participate in engagement initiatives, and provide research assistance and consultation. Library and Research Advisor will work with students, faculty, and staff where they are, with a focus on contributing to a holistic and inclusive vision of student services. The successful candidate will be an active and reflective participant in departmental and cross-departmental conversations and initiatives to enhance teaching and learning at the university.
Structured as a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position within the university, the Library and Research Advisor reports directly to the Dean of Retention and Student Support Services. This position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.

Structured as a part-time, hourly position. The position requires some daytime availability and evening and weekend hours, based on university needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Develop and promote library and information literacy instruction in a variety of modalities; provide and assess instruction sessions
• Create, conduct, and present workshops for faculty, staff and students
• Actively participate in student instructional experience. Options include attending student presentations, auditing a course annually, supporting graduate faculty, instructing courses, etc.
• Design and deliver asynchronous and individualized instructional support in a variety of modalities for graduate students
• Scaffold research activities through courses and degree programming.
• Coach students through research, reference, and technology support in a variety of modalities.
• Oversee additional library staff as needed, including weekly 1:1s, training, and continued professional development.
• Engage with curriculum developers to find appropriate resources, ensure fair use guidelines, and scaffold research and information literacy activities.
• Works closely with database vendors and publishers to negotiate contracts and ensure excellent access to AOEU's e-resources
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure student services are comprehensive, engaging, and streamlined.
• Review institutional materials, including curriculum documents, for congruence with library services supports and processes.
• Member of institutional governance as assigned
• Attends required training and meetings
• Complete special projects as needed
• Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned or requested
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Demonstrated success teaching adult learners or strong understanding of andragogy with an empathetic approach to adult learners.
• Ability to explore a wide breadth of research topics with students and respect student discovery and research interests.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build relationships across professional and disciplinary areas.
• Ability to engage in research, publication, and service that aligns with the University's mission.
• Highly proficient in using technology with the ability to effectively utilize various learning platforms. Experience with Google Suite preferred.
• Evidence of ability to work effectively in both self-directed and collaborative ways to plan, implement, and coordinate projects and initiatives.
• Highly organized and able to prioritize the most important work among multiple projects.
• Demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and leading innovative instruction or student engagement programs.
• Ability to think creatively and develop solutions for adult learners.
• Understanding of action research and human subjects research.
• Demonstrated attention to detail.
Position Requirements
EDUCATION
• Master's degree in education, library science, or art education from an accredited institution required; terminal degree from an accredited institution preferred.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience teaching information literacy or developing instructional materials
• Experience conducting assessment or evaluation of a program or initiative
• Familiarity with instructional technology, such as LibGuides or learning management systems (Brightspace preferred)
