Position Summary
The WCIU Librarian is part of the academic team and manages the acquisition and circulation of electronic materials to students, faculty, and approved members of the WCIU community. This includes making sure that online resources are readily available.
Essential Responsibilities
• Provide students, faculty, and approved community members with login and password information to access online databases and catalogs
• Provide student, faculty, and approved community members training on accessing and utilizing materials
• Serve as a primary point of contact with Digital Theological Library
• Work with faculty to ensure that online course materials are appropriately linked to resources and comply with copyright regulations
• Develop library guides on topics of interest and research for the WCIU community
• Work with the web team to maintain the library website
• Purchase and catalog e-books into the online collection in accordance with budget and policy
• Track subscriptions to databases and other online resources including providing a regular review of materials
• Provide quarterly reports of library utilization to leadership
• Work with the library committee to set policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Customer service mindset and skills
• Knowledge of library coding systems, cataloguing processes, and inter-library loan procedures
• Experience working with EBSCO online databases
• Knowledge of web design and maintenance
Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree - master’s in library science preferred
• Experience working in an academic library setting and with electronic resources
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and professionally with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Demonstrated commitment to WCIU’s mission, vision, and values
