About Our Team and the Role
The Truck and Checkout group is at the heart of our shopping experience, focusing on all aspects of the buying journey. As a Lead UX Product Designer in this group, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our guests' experience, from the moment they start checking out to the moment they receive their order confirmation. You'll be working closely with cross-functional teams to design intuitive, rich, and valuable experiences that make Target the preferred shopping destination.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full design process, from early discovery and testing to asset delivery and collaborating with engineers.
- Effectively collaborate with other designers and cross-functional partners to drive design excellence.
- Lead and participate in customer research with direct access to Target's guest customers.
- Become a subject matter expert in your area, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative data to inform and advocate for your direction.
- Design flows that are intuitive, rich, and offer value to our guests.
- Lead model and validation testing through remote interviews.
- Deliver production-ready designs and documentation, and collaborate with specialists to own designs to execution.
- Utilize and contribute to our enterprise design system.
- Set UX strategy and vision for your team.
- Proactively identify and pursue design opportunities within and across products.
- Guide the design process and mentor junior designers.
- Hold design work to a high standard of excellence, including accessibility, customer research, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design.
- Foster a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams.
- Navigate using both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Build a network of relationships to enable your work.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- 3+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio that showcases your skills.
- Experience designing responsive web applications.
- Experience leading customer interviews and usability testing remotely.
- Mastery of design and prototyping tools, such as Figma or similar.
- The ability to work independently while being an excellent teammate and collaborator.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to effectively lead projects and initiatives across multiple cross-functional teams.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge:
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of design systems and how to contribute to them.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and design sprints.
- Experience with user research and testing methods.
