Job Summary

As a Student Pharmacist, you'll play a vital role in supporting our Medication Therapy Management (MTM) pharmacists in delivering exceptional patient care and customer service. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting pharmacists with targeted medication reviews, intervention follow-up, and scheduling medication reviews. You'll also perform technical and clerical duties that support the efficient operation of our department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care:
    • Deliver targeted interventions to assess the appropriateness of medications, optimize medication therapy, and improve clinical outcomes.
    • Conduct patient-centered adherence monitoring services to help patients identify barriers to adherence and propose solutions to overcome them.
    • Assist with managing medication costs through cost-effective interventions.
    • Receive and respond to incoming patient calls, taking appropriate action based on protocols and escalating calls to the appropriate parties when needed.
    • Accurately document all discussions with patients and schedule follow-up as needed.
  • Prescriber Outreach:
    • Engage with prescriber offices to obtain responses to pharmacist-generated clinical recommendations.
    • Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy student colleagues to support the resolution of medication therapy problems.
    • Assist with documenting and submitting claims for clinical interventions made by pharmacists.
  • Scheduling Support:
    • Contact patients to introduce and explain the benefits of the MTM program.
    • Schedule appointments for the MTM Pharmacist(s) to complete comprehensive medication reviews.
  • General:
    • Provide exemplary internal and external customer service through prompt, professional, and polite communication.
    • Perform auxiliary functions essential to the efficient operation of the department.
    • Meet productivity and performance expectations set forth by management.

Schedule and Availability

We're looking for a Student Pharmacist who can commit to a minimum of 10 hours of availability per workweek during the hours of 8 AM to 7 PM CST, Monday through Friday. We'll consider your pharmacy school schedule when determining your availability.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • An active pharmacy intern or pharmacy technician license in the state of residence, where required.
  • Active enrollment in a PharmD program (second year preferred).
  • At least 1 year of outpatient pharmacy experience (preferred).
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service with a can-do attitude.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.

  • Conflict Resolution Skills: Ability to defuse potential customer conflict and respond supportively to patients through the use of appropriate tone, questioning, or counsel.
  • Strong Work Values: Ability to comply with all company and departmental processes and procedures.
  • Self-Management Skills: Self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the Law: Understanding of basic compliance measures for CMS programs and ensuring privacy and confidentiality as required by HIPAA, company, and department guidelines.
  • Computer/Technology Competency: Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with strong data entry skills and the ability to multitask using multiple databases/applications.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of $18 per hour, with consideration given to your geographic location, job-related knowledge, experience, and skills. You may also be eligible for a bonus or commission, and/or a long-term incentive as part of our compensation package.
