We're now seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our childcare department at The Corner School, located at our Corporate Headquarters in northwest Austin, with the flexibility to work remotely.

About The Corner School and This Unique Opportunity

The Corner School is our on-site childcare program, providing a nurturing environment for young learners. As an Assistant Teacher in our 2-year-old classroom, you'll work alongside our lead teacher to create engaging and developmentally appropriate activities. This role is perfect for those who are passionate about early childhood education and thrive in dynamic environments. Our remote work arrangement offers the flexibility to balance work and life while contributing to the holistic development of our children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor children both indoors and outdoors to ensure their safety and well-being, responding promptly to their needs.
  • Assist in planning and implementing engaging classroom activities that foster cognitive, emotional, and physical growth.
  • Provide individualized attention to each child, promoting their growth and development through tailored support.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive environment conducive to learning and self-discipline, encouraging social skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain the classroom environment and equipment, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming space.
  • Assume responsibility for classroom management in the absence of the Lead Teacher, demonstrating leadership and organizational skills.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Completion of 24 clock hours of professional development training annually.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in a licensed childcare facility, with a deep understanding of early childhood education principles.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, demonstrating expertise in child development and education.

Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, ensuring activities are tailored to the child's age and developmental stage.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, prioritizing tasks and managing classroom resources effectively.
  • Effective communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure and exhibit flexibility in various situations, handling challenging behaviors and unexpected events.
  • Physically capable of meeting the demands of the role, including lifting and supervising children, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
