Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Accountant in our Financial Services team, you will be responsible for providing training and support to campus and external stakeholders, while performing a variety of accounting and financial services tasks. Key responsibilities include:

  • General ledger accounting and account reconciliations
  • Monitoring accounting transactions and account balances
  • Financial reporting and year-end audit preparation and analysis
  • Evaluating current and upcoming GASB pronouncements
  • Month-end and year-end close process
  • Developing and documenting processes and procedures
  • Treasury/banking operations
  • Preparing management reports and special projects

Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a regionally accredited college or university
  • 1-3 years of work experience in accounting or a related field
  • A strong understanding of GAAP, GASB, GAAS, and internal controls
  • Experience in preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounting analysis
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel efficiently

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Workday and/or PeopleSoft experience
  • Higher education work experience
  • Fund accounting experience
  • Understanding of NSHE and State of Nevada policies and regulations
  • Supervisory experience
  • Accounting degree or CPA certification
  • A strong understanding of financial statements and risk assessments
  • A master's degree and 3-5 years of experience
