Key Responsibilities:
- Student Support: Assist students with special needs in the classroom and during individual instruction, providing academic support and behavior management strategies as needed.
- IEP Implementation: Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) under the guidance of the special education teacher, ensuring that students receive tailored support to meet their unique needs.
- Communication: Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged in student progress.
- Instructional Support: Provide individual and small group instruction to students as needed, supporting their academic growth and development.
- Behavior Management: Monitor student behavior and provide appropriate support and redirection, maintaining a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Supervision: Assist with student supervision during recess, lunch, and other activities, ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other school staff to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and resources.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to supporting the educational team.
Essential Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Experience working with children preferred, but not required.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of students, teachers, and parents.
- Personal Qualities: Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude, with a genuine passion for supporting student learning and growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Possession of or willingness to obtain certifications such as CPR, RBT, or other relevant credentials.
- Educational Background: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or a related field.
- Experience with Diverse Populations: Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including those with special needs or English language learners.
