Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities
The Customer Service Representative (Access Center) plays a vital role in answering a high volume of inbound calls for assigned blithequark practices. As a liaison between patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, clinical staff, and practices, you will facilitate patient healthcare needs while utilizing an electronic health record to validate and capture clinical and financial information.
- Navigates the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capture and document demographic and financial information, and maintain accurate data entry while ensuring patient privacy and security as per HIPAA guidelines.
- Manages a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, resolving issues related to scheduling appointments, refilling medications, obtaining insurance referrals, and addressing billing questions, among others.
- Leverages critical thinking to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity, researching complex issues and escalating to clinical staff when necessary.
- Schedules patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifies and updates insurance, and checks insurance eligibility, while maintaining proficiency in insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions.
- Communicates directly with providers to relay pertinent clinical information during after hours, ensuring seamless coordination of patient care.
- Maintains established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of experience in customer service or a related field
Preferred qualifications include:
- Recent healthcare or customer service experience
- Typing speed of at least 35 wpm with 90% accuracy (typing test required)
