As a Customer Service Representative, you will serve as the initial point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, playing a critical role in facilitating patient healthcare needs.

Role Purpose and Responsibilities

As a Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Navigating electronic health records to obtain and validate historical information, capturing and documenting demographic and financial information, and maintaining patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
  • Managing a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Leveraging critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity.
  • Scheduling patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifying and updating insurance, and checking insurance eligibility.
  • Maintaining proficiency in and sharing knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions.
  • Communicating directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after-hours.
  • Managing calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.

Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of recent healthcare or customer service experience.
  • Typing Test: Minimum speed of 35 wpm, 90% accuracy.
  • Location: Must live within 1 hour of St. Louis, Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic health records.
  • Knowledge of insurance basics and healthcare operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Schedule and Compensation

As a part-time remote customer service specialist, you will work:

  • Monday-Tuesday: 7:30am-4pm.
  • Wednesday-Friday: 9am-1pm.
  • Hours: 28 hours per week.
