Job Overview

As an Account Manager for Walgreens RWE Clinical Trials, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of client accounts, driving business growth, and ensuring client satisfaction. This role requires a consultative and proactive approach to sales, with a focus on building strong relationships with existing and new clients. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, including sales operations, finance, and marketing, to drive business outcomes and achieve sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of client accounts, driving new business opportunities across the RWE Clinical Trials verticals, including patient enrollment, Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCT), HEOR and epidemiological studies, and post-marketing studies.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans in collaboration with the scientific research delivery teams to drive client account growth and expansion.
  • Proactively identify and qualify new business opportunities, defining solutions and recommending pricing structures to meet key objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact until project kick-off (KO), then coordinate with relevant business areas to ensure successful execution.
  • Lead and support the response to the proposal process, working closely with the proposal team to deliver high-quality responses in a timely manner.
  • Develop and execute Bid Defense strategies, ensuring that targeted offerings align with client goals and objectives.
  • Drive efforts to close target clients for clinical trials as part of overall sales targets.
  • Foster a collaborative client-facing problem-solving environment with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and systems to enhance Walgreens' clinical trials market leadership.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • A four-year college degree and at least 4 years of experience in direct or indirect (e.g., clinical trials, RWE, life sciences) client/account management.
  • A scientific, sales, or potential marketing background with a focus on the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • A proven track record of developing mid- and senior-level business contacts.
  • Excellent communication skills to manage and fully integrate Operations, Finance, and Marketing, and follow up to expand relationships and business opportunities.
  • A strong understanding of Clinical Trials, Decentralized Trials, and RWE trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing new business opportunities, creating effective presentations, managing the sales cycle, and handling contract negotiations.
  • Proficiency in sales automation systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience collaborating with internal or external resources to develop strategies that meet departmental goals within budget and established timelines.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect management, or cross-functional team leadership experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (in-state and out-of-state).
