Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Application Architect to join our IT Conveyance Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing the development of data applications from back-end to front-end. Your expertise will guide our Item Leads and Data Designers in accordance with our architecture structure and rules. Key Responsibilities

  • Assume ownership of the end-to-end design and implementation process of data items, ensuring alignment from data extraction to display in accordance with the organization's guidelines and structures.
  • Act as a primary point of contact with other technology groups to facilitate the extraction, transformation, and loading of data, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of data sources.
  • Define and enforce performance metrics, balance, and sustainability of data solutions, actively monitoring and promoting the reuse of components.
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining modern standards and guidelines for emerging technologies within our infrastructure, ensuring that all solutions are compliant with these guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Offer direct technical expertise and support to Data Item Teams, including Partners, Product Leads, Data Architects, and Data Experts, ensuring the team is equipped to meet business objectives.
  • Lead the development of Proof of Concepts for new challenges and provide detailed guidance on their implementation, ensuring adherence to best practices and company standards.
  • Continuously review platform performance metrics to ensure effectiveness and efficiency, proactively addressing any issues and seeking opportunities for growth.
  • Proactively identify risk factors in our data solutions and take steps to mitigate potential issues from the outset of the design stage.
  • Effectively monitor technical debt and lead refactoring efforts to enhance system functionality and longevity.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Data Designers, Data Experts, and Data Researchers, empowering them with the skills required to succeed in their roles and adhere to best practices in data management.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to elevate the technical skills of the team and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Hold accountability for the final deliverables of data design projects, ensuring they meet all functional and technical requirements outlined by stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the security team to ensure data solutions comply with corporate data security and privacy standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in data technology to advance and recommend improvements to our architecture continuously.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience working with Data Items Development.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing Data Items (Extractions, Reports, Dashboards).
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Data Visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, Microstrategy, etc.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Data Services and Architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of social SQL databases and non-social databases.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and design.
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools.
  • Knowledge of architecture and networking across different Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, and/or GCP).
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

While not essential, the following qualifications and experience are desirable:

  • Experience designing, modeling, or developing Data Science and Machine Learning solutions.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools - GitHub, GoCD, Terraform, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in programming languages used in Data Item Development.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM).
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum and DevOps best practices.
  • Experience working in a global, distributed team, with in-house and external delivery resources.
  • Working knowledge of one Agile lifecycle management tool like Jira or Azure DevOps.
