Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Classified Tutor - Douglass to join our team at Douglass Elementary. As a Classified Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and students, providing individualized and small group instruction to enhance student learning and academic achievement. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tutoring practice to students as assigned by teachers, focusing on Tier 2 and Tier 3 support in literacy, including additional practice and reinforcement of skills already taught in Tier 1 instruction
  • Support classroom teachers in implementing instructional programs and activities to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Report regularly to the principal and classroom teachers on student progress and provide feedback to inform instruction
  • Attend all building staff development and district workshops with teachers to stay current on best practices and district initiatives
  • Implement instruction using district standards, benchmarks, and indicators, applying basic learning concepts to support student learning
  • Maintain communication with school personnel, parents/guardians, and students to enhance cooperative action and meet the educational needs of students
  • Utilize existing technology effectively in the performance of duties, including digital tools and platforms to support instruction and communication

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or a GED certificate
  • Completed 48 hours at an institution of higher education OR obtained an associate's (or higher) degree OR passed a State-approved assessment (such as Workkeys, ParaPro, or Para Educator)
  • Job-related experience preferred, with a strong understanding of instructional support and student learning

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience working in an educational setting, particularly in a support role
  • Knowledge of district standards, benchmarks, and indicators, as well as instructional strategies and techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs and student learning

  • Strong instructional support skills, with the ability to provide individualized and small group instruction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
