Job Overview
We are urgently seeking an experienced and passionate Early Childhood Care Provider to join our team in Safety Harbor, FL. As a Teacher I, you will play a lead role in the classroom, planning and implementing educational activities for pre-school aged children or infants/toddlers in our Head Start/Early Heart Start Program. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement daily lesson plans that provide educational and enrichment activities for pre-school age children or infants and toddlers.
- Arrange classrooms into distinctive learning areas that promote an effective learning environment.
- Screen and assess children to determine developmental/educational needs and develop individual education plans.
- Monitor meal and snack periods, classroom and restroom activities, and playground activities to ensure a safe environment for young children.
- Document children's progress and complete required manual and computerized forms and reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences, written correspondence, and telephone to keep them informed about their child's progress.
- Conduct health checks on children and report any health concerns to the appropriate Health Coordinator.
- Ensure lessons and classroom activities align with the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Standards and conduct assessments as required.
- Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee field trips for assigned children.
- Order supplies and equipment for special needs children and assist in their transportation as needed.
- Inspect classrooms and grounds to ensure safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness.
- Perform First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as needed.
Essential Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related degree.
- Two years of experience teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten age children.
- Working knowledge of brain development, child development, culture and practices for early childhood, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Skills in verbal communication with infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children, conflict resolution, and supervisory techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and conduct early childhood education programs, implement routine care for infants and toddlers, and provide physical assistance in the transportation of special needs children.
- Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Knowledge of current educational techniques and practices relating to early childhood development.
- Ability to administer CPR and First-Aid.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
