Job Overview
We are urgently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Substitute Teacher - High School to join our team in Denver, CO. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule, working with a variety of high schools and students. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $189 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Our goal is to provide you with the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom and make a positive impact on the lives of your students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of subjects to high school students, following the lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular teacher
- Manage the classroom environment, ensuring a safe and respectful learning space for all students
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, adapting to the needs and abilities of your students
- Assess student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their academic goals
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff, building strong relationships and resolving any issues that may arise
- Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date with best practices in education and improving your teaching skills
Essential Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Bachelor's degree
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- CO Substitute Teacher Authorization (or in the process of obtaining)
- Background check (we'll cover the cost of the one you do with Scoot)
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

- Experience working with high school students, either as a teacher or in a related field
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
