Key Responsibilities
As a General Merchandise Coach (Non-Complex) at Walmart, you will be responsible for leading and developing teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading teams and providing feedback through touring stores and utilizing the Tour-to-Teach methodology
- Communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates regarding store operations, technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction

- Modeling and demonstrating exceptional customer service standards to store associates and managing customer service initiatives
- Driving financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements and managing expenses
- Providing supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates, including hiring, training, and mentoring
- Coordinating, completing, and overseeing job-related activities and assignments, including developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and supporting company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:
- 2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience
- Ability to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments
- For facilities that sell firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training may be required
- For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University
- Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University
- General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports, including responsibility for performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing
