Job Summary

The Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Osteopathic Medical Education will play a crucial role in overseeing academic leadership, curriculum development, and accreditation activities. The successful candidate will have a strong background in osteopathic medical education, academic administration, and leadership. They will be responsible for driving innovation, promoting excellence, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee academic leadership and curriculum development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality undergraduate medical education
  • Collaborate with faculty, departments, and administrative leadership to develop and implement innovative curricular initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, including COCA and Middle States Commission on Higher Education
  • Lead the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Services, ensuring fair and transparent admissions processes
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs, providing support for student health insurance, wellness programs, and student organizations
  • Oversee continuing medical education, promoting strategic growth and development
  • Ensure student success through advising, mentoring, and academic support programs
  • Develop and implement faculty development initiatives, linking faculty growth to promotion and tenure processes
  • Collaborate with hospital partners to expand GME programs and ensure high-quality medical education and training
  • Represent the College of Osteopathic Medicine in university activities, promoting academic initiatives and domains

Essential Qualifications

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
  • Eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Nevada
  • Board Certified in any specialty, preferably Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Med/Peds
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in undergraduate and graduate medical education
  • At least five years of academic administration experience at a senior level, including academic and student affairs management
  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal communication, collaboration, team building, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work with people from diverse racial, ethnic, gender identity, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Strong knowledge of racial health disparities and experience in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in osteopathic medical education, admissions/enrollment management, and academic accreditation
  • Strong background in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience in faculty development, promotion, and tenure processes
  • Knowledge of COCA and Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation standards
  • Experience in continuing medical education, GME program development, and hospital partnerships
