About the position The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting Covered's financial health through accurate record-keeping and analysis. This role involves managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, and providing insights for strategic financial decision-making. Additionally, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations. This role is crucial in handling compensation, tax filings, and benefits-related deductions. Responsibilities • Perform monthly close tasks including financial analysis, ensuring completion of checklists, reconciliations, and participate in external audits , • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees , • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness , • Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure proper documentation , • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports , • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes , • Review vendor invoices and post daily to accounts payable. Ability to investigate and resolve problems associated with processing invoices , • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning , • Ensure compliance with GAAP, and internal policies , • Prepare and file tax reports, including corporate, sales, and payroll taxes , • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy , • Provide financial analysis and insights to support management in decision-making , • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations Requirements • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred) , • Experience: 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment , • Experience in InsurTech or FinTech industry is preferred , • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting , • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel , • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills , • Strong attention to detail and accuracy , • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines , • Strong communication and interpersonal skills , • Knowledge of internal controls and risk management (preferred) Nice-to-haves undefined Benefits • Culture: work with passionate, innovative professionals who love what they do.
