Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Maintenance Technician and Facilities Specialist, you will be responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and managing work orders and routine maintenance schedules. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures under the supervision of a more senior technician
  • Inspecting, cleaning, and repairing facilities, equipment, or fixtures, and observing and documenting signs of wear and tear
  • Documenting preventive maintenance activities and providing prompt response to emergency calls
  • Utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) to perform minor repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures
  • Inspecting, operating, or testing facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues, and dismantling equipment, machines, or facilities to access and remove defective parts
  • Diagnosing problems utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary, and utilizing hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment
  • Managing work orders and routine maintenance schedules by completing and providing required written and electronic information
  • Requesting parts for maintenance or repair work, recording parts usage, and conducting price comparison of parts and travel-related costs
  • Submitting warranty claims, complying with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines, and ensuring quality work is completed that complies with federal, state, and local regulations and codes

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or certification in a related field (for example, facilities management, maintenance technology) is preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, repair, or a related field
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety and quality
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide expert advice and guidance to others
  • Strong knowledge of multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, and utilize hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a retail or commercial environment, with a strong understanding of facilities management and maintenance principles
  • Certification in a related field (for example, Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT), Certified Facilities Manager (CFM))
