Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Remote Risk Management Professional to join our Model Risk Management Group (MRMG) within the Global Risk and Compliance Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the independent risk management of all American Express models, with a focus on cutting-edge Gen AI (Large Language Models) and AI-based models for marketing, credit, fraud, or other business/risk types. Your expertise will help elevate model excellence, strengthen long-term shareholder value, and adapt to the changing landscape of model development, external environment, and enhanced regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead independent oversight of enterprise-wide models with an emphasis on Gen AI (Large Language Models) and AI-based models for marketing, credit, fraud, or other business/risk types.
  • Conduct gap assessments and establish a robust framework to strengthen model risk controls and meet enhanced regulatory guidelines.
  • Lead AI/ML research to explore exceptional opportunities to lift model excellence and drive business impact.
  • Communicate results to partners, senior leadership, and various model boards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive approval and project execution.
  • Effectively convey complex analytical results to colleagues and senior management.

Essential Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in Large Language Models or large data workstreams.
  • MBA, Master's degree in AI, Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields from a top-tier institution.
  • Practical experience in model development or validation.
  • Strong analytical and relationship-building skills for driving approval initiatives.
  • Experience in applying advanced statistical and/or quantitative methods to solve business problems is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with at least one data manipulation tool like Python, R, Java, is a must.
  • Gen AI/AI/Machine Learning expertise, with mastery in coding, supervised and unsupervised strategies - dynamic learning, transfer learning, brain models, decision trees, reinforcement learning, graphical models, Gaussian processes, Bayesian models, map reduce methods, Random Forests, Gradient Boosting, Deep Learning, Text Mining Algorithms.
