About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Aircraft Support Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. As an Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work on-the-job with experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) to gain practical experience and develop key skills in aircraft maintenance and repair. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about aviation and want to start their career in a dynamic and fast-paced industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform work activities in accordance with established laws, regulations, standards, safety protocols, and procedures to ensure safety of self and others.
  • Shadow AMTs to conduct inspections to locate damage, defects, or wear that may affect safety, reliability, or customer experience, reporting issues as appropriate.
  • Shadow AMTs to test machinery, mechanical equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning.
  • Work alongside AMTs to install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications.
  • Work alongside AMTs to repair worn, defective, or damaged parts or components (e.g., seat gears, tray tables, wiring/electrical), using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
  • Reads and interprets technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities.
  • Interprets and uses specifications, drawings, blueprints diagrams, schematics, or flow charts to determine operational methods or sequences and to complete work activities.
  • Research manuals, flight logs, or other technical resources to gather information needed to complete work activities.
  • Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

On-the-Job Training

As an Apprentice, you will receive on-the-job training that provides practical experience with the procedures, practices, materials, tools, and equipment generally used in aircraft maintenance and repair. You will work closely with experienced AMTs to develop key knowledge and skills that will help prepare you to become a licensed airframe and powerplant mechanic.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Consistently prioritize safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embrace a diverse set of people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be enrolled in one of Delta's 147 A&P partnered schools.
  • Must successfully pass a class-required Assessment.
  • Must be in the last semester of completion for FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate program.
  • While in the apprenticeship program, continue to attend normal scheduled classes at the 147 A&P partnered school.
  • Must have successfully completed the General Knowledge exam and successfully completed either the Airframe or Powerplant Knowledge exam and working to complete the last portion.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to read and write English and comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals.
  • TIME AND ATTENDANCE: Work schedule will be maintained locally. No more than 30 hours per week scheduled. Apprenticeship will conclude no later than 6 months from start date.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:

  • Previous experience in aircraft maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and components.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and guidelines.
