Job Overview
This position is responsible for addressing all inbound client requests from FedEx and its clients concerning customs clearance solicitations, providing information about duties, taxes, and broker fees in accordance with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. As a Bilingual Customer Support Representative, you will handle credit card payments from clients for their FedEx clearance requests, assist FedEx Express customer care and FedEx Revenue Services with inquiries from U.S. shippers who have issues about their charged back customs clearance charges received from FedEx.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls from Canadian and U.S. clients regarding their FedEx clearance receipts and direct them to the suitable FedEx department or FedEx Operating Company (OPCO) for resolution.
- Investigate inquiries regarding FedEx clearances for shipments into Canada and respond to clients with a resolution.
- Process credit card payments from clients, ensuring that the payment is approved and not declined.
- Log payments accurately against the receipt in the FedEx accounting system.
- Liaise with clients directly in the event of payment processing issues, such as incorrect credit card number, mistaken expiry date, or declined payment.
- Investigate and respond to clients on any issues related to credit payment received and liaise with the FedEx Accounts Receivable Office to resolve issues.
- Assist the billing department in preparing credit notes for FedEx clearance requests in question resolution.
- Support FedEx Express Customer Support Agents on inquiries related to FedEx shipments in customs clearance delay or FedEx clearance receipts that the client has received in the mail.
- Sort and relate Low Value Shipment (LVS) Documents for the purpose of mailing.
- Respond to inquiries from other OPCOs.
- Prepare FedEx clearance requests to mail to clients, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- High school diploma required.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, IBM AS 400 Mainframe application system, and office equipment (fax machine/scanners/printers/scanners).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in French and English.
- Outstanding customer service skills, with the ability to engage with a large number of clients and employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer support or a related field.
- Knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and customs clearance procedures.
- Familiarity with FedEx systems and procedures.
