Job Overview

The Intern, Data Analyst/Scientist position is a unique opportunity to work with the Da Vinci AI team on various projects related to data analysis, annotation, and automating data pipelines in a cloud environment. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for implementing and evaluating data annotation and augmentation pipelines using tools from cloud providers for the purposes of machine learning and evaluation of Large Language Models. This role will also involve comparing methods to generate and evaluate synthetic datasets for various use cases, providing valuable insights to drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practice analyzing big data: Utilize your analytical skills to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Use available libraries for implementation of algorithms: Leverage your knowledge of machine learning algorithms and programming skills to implement and refine algorithms using relevant data.
  • Evaluate and refine algorithms: Continuously evaluate and refine algorithms to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Perform exploratory and targeted data analysis: Use descriptive statistics and other methods to perform exploratory and targeted data analysis, providing valuable insights to drive business decisions.
  • Communicate the business value of technical solutions: Effectively communicate the business value of technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and assist in developing reproducible analytical approaches: Perform ad-hoc analysis and assist in developing reproducible analytical approaches to meet business requirements.
  • Experiment with and evaluate the output of Large Language Models: Experiment with and evaluate the output of Large Language Models for various tasks, providing valuable insights to drive business decisions.
  • Utilization of technologies: Utilize technologies such as Python, Jupyter, Spark, and AWS Sagemaker to perform data analysis and machine learning tasks.
  • Data Engineering / Data Ops tasks: Perform data engineering and data ops tasks, including cataloging research datasets, data normalization, writing ETL scripts, and building data pipelines.
  • Participate in data storage architecture design discussions: Participate in data storage architecture design discussions to ensure optimal data storage and retrieval.

Essential Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, or Statistics: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a strong foundation in mathematics and computer science.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms: Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and programming skills to implement and refine algorithms.
  • Strong analytical skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at documenting experiments, report writing, and presenting findings: Adept at documenting experiments, report writing, and presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data processing platforms: Knowledge of cloud-based data processing platforms such as AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, Microsoft Azure ML, etc.
  • Knowledge of SQL, statistics, and experience using statistical packages: Knowledge of SQL, statistics, and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, Statsmodels, R, etc.).
