Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Early Childhood Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our remote team. As a key member of our support staff, you'll work closely with licensed teachers and therapists to implement instructional plans, provide physical care, and promote social and emotional development in our students. Key Responsibilities

  • Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists, adapting lesson modifications as needed to ensure learning objectives are met.
  • Provide physical care, including diapering, toileting, feeding, and reinforcing adaptive PE/motor activities, as directed by teachers and therapists.
  • Observe, document, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors, communicating activities to teachers and facilitators.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to review student progress, plan upcoming lessons, and participate in trainings.
  • Assist with non-instructional activities, such as retrieving students from buses or cars and escorting them to their destinations.
  • Record and update student progress toward achievement of individual educational plans.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License.
  • Experience working with special education students, preferably in an early childhood setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Physical stamina to lift students and perform other manipulations to assist with daily living skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Experience working in a remote or virtual setting.
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and technology, such as augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis, including progress monitoring and reporting.
