Job Purpose and Responsibilities

The Family Support Team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of ASYE, Social Workers, and Senior Practitioners, led by a Deputy Team Manager and a Team Manager. As a Qualified Social Worker – Family Support Worker, you will be responsible for holding a caseload of approximately 10 families, which translates to around 22 children. Your caseload will be a mix of Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases, with more experienced staff handling court cases, but no more than 3 families at a time. You will be expected to complete Section 7 or 37 reports as required.

• Conduct home visits within statutory timescales to assess the needs of children and families
• Develop and implement support plans to ensure the well-being and safety of children
• Collaborate with other professionals, such as healthcare providers, educators, and law enforcement, to provide comprehensive support services
• Prepare and present reports for court proceedings, including private proceedings
• Participate in core group, family support, and strategy meetings, which are typically held via Microsoft Teams
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of case notes, assessments, and support plans
• Engage in regular supervision, which includes personal and case supervision, to ensure your professional development and well-being

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

• Be registered with the Social Work England (SWE)
• Be eligible to work in the UK
• Have a strong understanding of child protection procedures and legislation
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to your work
• Have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality support services, with a focus on promoting the well-being and safety of children and families

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience working in a family support team or similar setting
• Knowledge of the local area and community resources

• Experience of using Microsoft Teams and other digital platforms for remote working
