The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our Housing Customer Service Center team as a Customer Service Representative. As the first point of contact for our students, faculty, staff, parents, and guests, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional support, resolving issues, and maintaining a positive and friendly work environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers, ensuring prompt resolution of issues and concerns
  • Offer information and guidance on policies, procedures, and programs related to housing services, ensuring that customers are well-informed and empowered to make informed decisions
  • Identify and prioritize problems, performing research and offering solutions, options, and strategies to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
  • Utilize information systems to input data, maintain databases, generate reports, and perform research, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Stay up-to-date with applicable policies, procedures, contracts, and legal issues, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Represent the Housing Customer Service Center in a professional and courteous manner, interacting with students, parents, faculty, administrators, staff, and external customers
  • Train, schedule, and assign workloads to student workers, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects
  • Provide services, including processing and delivery of mail and packages, receiving key deposits, and issuing keys, maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Compose memos and letters, compile statistical reports, and perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma, with combined education and experience considered as a substitute for minimum experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in customer service, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional support and resolving issues efficiently
  • A valid CA driver's license, with participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System, and a copy of your DMV record required as a final condition of employment
  • A strong understanding of customer service principles, with the ability to demonstrate empathy, active listening, and effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • A Bachelor's Degree, with a focus on student counseling, customer service, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional support and resolving complex issues
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, with a strong understanding of the needs and concerns of students, faculty, and staff
