Senior Dispatcher
Job Description:
As a Senior Dispatcher, you will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of transportation operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods and services. You will be instrumental in optimizing routing, managing driver schedules, and resolving logistical issues, all while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Dispatch Operations: Supervise and coordinate daily dispatch operations, ensuring smooth communication and operational efficiency.
• Driver Scheduling: Assign and schedule drivers based on route requirements, driver availability, and customer needs to optimize fleet usage.
• Route Optimization: Plan and adjust routes to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective transportation, considering traffic conditions, weather, and customer timelines.
• Monitor Fleet Performance: Track and monitor vehicles in real-time, ensuring that all deliveries are completed on time and in compliance with safety regulations.
• Customer Communication: Communicate directly with customers to provide updates on delivery status, address concerns, and ensure service satisfaction.
• Problem Resolution: Handle operational challenges such as delays, accidents, and equipment malfunctions, quickly resolving issues to minimize disruption.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all drivers adhere to transportation laws, safety standards, and company policies, including DOT regulations.
• Training & Mentorship: Provide leadership and guidance to dispatchers, training them on operational procedures, customer service expectations, and problem-solving techniques.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, driver activity, and any operational issues for reporting and analysis purposes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the operations, maintenance, and customer service teams to ensure seamless coordination and service delivery.
Qualifications:
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in dispatching or a related role within the transportation industry.
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading and mentoring a team, with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and routing optimization tools.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, customers, and team members.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a proactive approach to resolving logistical challenges.
• Knowledge of Transportation Regulations: Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety compliance, and operational best practices.
